    Egeria Densa

    Price:  £2.99

Pondweed is probably the most well known of all aquatic plants. Thanks to its rapid growth it is the perfect plant for dealing with algae. It is also a popular oxygenator for aquariums and ponds. As with most stem plants, propogation is not complicated. Simply cut off the top or side shoots and replant them. In aquariums it may be necessary to cut the plant back often, due to the speed at which it spreads. Highly recommended for stabilising new setups.

Egeria is found in many temperate and sub-tropical regions throughout the world as an introduced or 'alien' species, meaning a species that does not originate from the area it is found in. In many places, particularly Europe, fast growing, adaptable plants such as Egeria can spread quickly and cause major damage to native plants and wildlife. Therefore it is vital that aquarists behave responsibly and do not allow aquarium plants to reach open waterways, rivers and lakes.
