In its emersed state, the leaves of this plant are much broader than the narrow submersed leaf blades. Leaf colour varies from olive green to reddish brown. The edges of the leaves can sometimes curl up slightly, making them a wonderfully ornamental feature. After major pruning the plants tend to grow in a much more compact and robust form. They adapt easily to different PH values.
